The Keto-genic Diet as A Mood Stabilizer?

Back in 2018, after my wife had some serious health issues, she became worried about her health and started a keto diet to lose some weight. Just 9 months later, she had lost 110 lbs.

When I tried the diet, I was able to lose 35 lbs. in 1 month and noticed a postive impact on my mental health.

I won’t go into too much detail about the science of the keto diet and how it works, but the keto diet is a way to take in healthy fats and starve your body of carbs to the point that your body starts using up excess fat as its fuel source.

For my wife, the keto diet didn’t just allow her to drop the excess weight she gained over the years after having 5 kids, but it also led to many other positive health benefits that are lesser-known and often overlooked.

The Keto Diet As A Mood Stabilizer?

One of the most noticable positive benefits of adopting the keto-genic diet was the affect it had on my mood.

Both my wife and I, when we are consistent with our keto diet and we get into a good ketosis, we experience having more energy, brain clarity, and a better mood.

For me, as someone who struggles with combat related PTSD and bipolar 1 disorder, making lifestyle changes that help me stabilize my mood is a very important factor in managing my mental health.

Outside of my personal experience, there’s also a growing body of scientific research that proves that adopting a keo-genic diet has positive benefits as a mood stabilizer.

This makes sense to me, because sugar and carbs are highly addictive. Therefore, they impact mood in profound ways.

The negative impacts both sugar and carbs have on mood are apparent when your body is in ketosis and then you have a spike in sugar/carb intake. You will quickly recognize the negative impact in the form of brain fog, lack of energy, and even irritability.

I recently started the keto diet again. I will make updates on my experience harnessing this diet in the future.

It has been said that, “Every thought is a prayer and every word a spell.” This is to say that we’re all creating, because life, in, and of, itself, is a process of creation and recreation. The question isn’t whether we’re creating or not, but whether we’re good at it. In this regard, creation is…

Rapid Manifestation Acceleration: Focus on Inducing States, Not Acquiring Stuff
