The present moment is a gift. It’s all we really have. It’s the only thing that’s truly real. It’s extremely important that we don’t allow the pain of the past to become a predictable future.
When we think too far ahead, we experience anxiety. When we reflect on the past for too long, we experience fear.
We should only allow our focus to scan what’s on the horizon just ahead of us. Look into the rearview mirror just long enough to recognize what might be creeping up on us.
The best way to escape the viscious cycle of the past and create a better future is to improve the quality of this present moment.
